Numerous reports state that Vinnie Sunseri, a former standout football player for Alabama, has joined the Washington staff.
Sunseri, 32, spent the last four seasons on the staff of the NFL’s New England Patriots. He also worked as a graduate assistant with the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban in 2019.
The son of former Alabama linebackers coach Sal Sunseri, Vinnie Sunseri played safety at Alabama from 2011-13. He contributed to national championship teams his first two years, then saw his junior season cut short due to injury.
The New Orleans Saints selected Sunseri in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Before turning to coaching, he played for two seasons in New Orleans and also had stints with the Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers.
Sunseri will join former Patriots defensive coordinator Steve Belichick (son of Bill Belichick) on the Washington staff under first-year coach Jedd Fisch, who replaced Kalen DeBoer after DeBoer took the Alabama job. Brennan Carroll, son of former USC and Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, is the Huskies’ offensive coordinator.
