Barcelona has already begun making preparations for the upcoming summer, and it looks like they are getting close to making their first acquisition. Xavi Hernandez dropped Joao Felix, but Barcelona will make an effort to hold onto him.
The Portuguese forward had a successful first two months after joining on loan from Atletico Madrid this summer. However, his subsequent performances have alternated between lackluster and brilliant moments once more, which is why Xavi benched him from the starting lineup.
However, RAC1 (via Sport) reports that Jorge Mendes, the agent, is already working on the agreement, and that the new contract is “advanced” for a second loan with a buyout option. Mendes will also try to mediate a deal for Joao Cancelo, a full-back for Manchester City. But Mendes has told the Catalan side that this will be a more difficult deal to close, and City will only take Cancelo on a permanent basis.
There has long been doubt about the relationship between agent Mendes and Barcelona; at times, it has appeared as though Mendes’s clients are signed when they might not be the best choices. There has long been doubt about the relationship between agent Mendes and Barcelona; at times, it has appeared as though Mendes’s clients are signed when they might not be the best choices.
