Chiefs security Reid offers strategy to thwart 49ers’ YAC assault

Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, the Chiefs’ defense is aware of the 49ers’ offensive prowess, and San Francisco is superior to all in one area that Kansas City wishes to restrict on February 11.

Kansas City’s primary concern was emphasized by Chiefs safety Justin Reid during his interview with reporters on Wednesday at Super Bowl Radio Row.

Reid told reporters on Wednesday that tackling will be the game plan’s top priority after run fits. When you watch the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions play in San Francisco, you can see that both teams had chances and plays that should have resulted in tackles for loss. However, when Deebo Samuel or Christian McCaffrey break a tackle and the play goes for a first down, the 49ers gain momentum.

“Therefore, I believe it will be crucial for us that the first player to tackle and really slow down that momentum, not letting them catch a stride or rhythm that way, on the edge on those dump-off passes, on the screens, or whatever they’re doing.”

Reid would characterize San Francisco’s electric playmakers as tough tackles. When touching the ball, elite 49ers like Samuel, McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk irritate defenses by breaking tackles and turning plays that ought to be negative into first downs.

“Man, this guy is a machine.” Reid stated, “He never gets tired.” He is a productive worker. He’s stronger than his size suggests, no doubt about it. However, he also possesses the deft footwork, stutter-step prior to entering, and abrupt cuts. He added the stiff arm, as demonstrated by his gameplay as well. Therefore, the man is equipped with a full utility belt.
