2024 is supposed to be the year that Kyle Busch finally…

In the NASCAR Cup Series, Kyle Busch has almost achieved everything.

a winner twice. winner 63 times. winner of the Brickyard 400 twice. a Coca-Cola 600 champion. Among the 75 Greatest Drivers in NASCAR history. Yes, Busch’s resume is impressive. One thing, though, is still lacking: a victory in the Daytona 500, the biggest race of them all.

In “The Great American Race,” Busch is 0–18, despite numerous near misses. In 2019, he came in third, and in 2016, he came in fourth. However, close is insufficient. Being close does not guarantee a seat at the same table as the greats of the sport, like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Richard Petty.

Busch believes that the 19th start will be the winning one.

“Oh my goodness, I would kill for a Daytona 500 victory,” Busch remarked to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass. It seems like there has been a feast or a famine, and I can count on finishing second or third five or six times in a row. The remainder of the time, it ends with a crash on the hook and an early return to the trailer. It would be good to finish it this year and spend the evening celebrating in victory lane.

2024 is off to a great start for Kyle Busch.

The 38-year-old Busch recently completed his first season at Richard Childress Racing. Despite his three victories, he had his worst point total since his rookie season in 2005 (20th), placing him a dismal 14th in the standings. The Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum this past Saturday gave his 2024 campaign a strong start. Busch came in second, just behind race winner Denny Hamlin, despite it being merely an exhibition. But he acknowledged that he thought his vehicle was superior to Hamlin’s.
