Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer speaks at Senior Bowl
With the rumors of Chris Kapilovic and Bryan Ellis joining his coaching staff for the 2024 season, it appeared for a brief moment that new Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer had completed his recruiting class. William Inge, who was supposed to join the Crimson Tide’s staff as the coordinator of special teams and outside linebackers, is reportedly leaving for Tennessee on Monday afternoon, which momentarily changed that.
But the position wasn’t empty for very long. Bruce Feldman of The Athletic stated that Christian Robinson is anticipated to be hired by the Crimson Tide for the position. Prior to this, Robinson was Baylor’s linebackers coach.
Robinson offers a plethora of southern expertise to the position. He has previously served as a coach at Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, and Auburn.
From 2009 to 2012, he played collegiate football at Georgia.
On Monday, Volquest announced that Inge will be working with Josh Heupel in Knoxville. He had previously worked as linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for the Huskies at Washington under DeBoer.
The official announcement of Inge’s hiring as a coach had never come from Alabama. Previously, he had followed DeBoer to coaching positions at Indiana and Fresno State.
The only two assistants that UA has announced for the upcoming season, aside from Wommack, are both holdovers from Nick Saban’s 2023 staff. Freddie Roach will continue to coach the defensive line, and Robert Gillespie will continue to coach the running backs.
