Gabe Davis, the No. 2 receiver for the Buffalo Bills, is expected to become a free agent and might be saying goodbye to his supporters. There are reportedly financial obstacles in the way of a return to Buffalo, despite the interest expressed by both parties.
Gabe Davis, a receiver with the Buffalo Bills, has amassed quite the highlight reel throughout his first four NFL seasons. On Monday, the pending free agent made a video chronicling his trip public on social media.
The 2020 fourth-round draft selection posted a nearly eight-minute-long video montage on his personal Instagram account. The video included clips of Davis getting a call on draft day and his postseason record-breaking four touchdowns versus Kansas City.
Depending on how one interprets it, Davis’ letter might be a simple celebration of his favorite experiences as a Bills player that he wishes to continue, or it could be a poignant farewell to the team that picked him. Although the team’s salary limit predicament makes an agreement tough to achieve, Davis has never ruled out a return to Buffalo, despite appearing to test the free agent market.
“I adore Buffalo—everything about it is wonderful. Always willing to return,” Davis voiced throughout the opening thirty seconds of his Instagram video.
It says, “Bills Mafia, thank you for changing my life.” I’m grateful for the memories.
According to Spotrac, Davis is worth an average of $13.6 million a year, which is probably too much for the Bills. In contrast, the Jets signed Allen Lazard to a four-year, $44 million contract as their number-two wide receiver last offseason. The season before he signed, Lazard had 60 catches for 788 yards and six touchdowns. Fresh off 45 catches for 746 yards and seven touchdowns, Davis will be entering free agency.
