On Tuesday, Las Vegas announced a significant hiring of a new senior offensive assistant.
The Raiders’ objective for the upcoming season is to make the playoffs, and every offseason move is meant to assist them get closer to that purpose. Joe Philbin, a former head coach of the Miami Dolphins, was hired by Las Vegas on Tuesday to serve as their senior offensive assistant.
According to a source, the Raiders have selected Joe Philbin, the former head coach of the Dolphins, to be their senior offensive assistant. Ian Rapoport tweeted about the news. “Philbin is returning to the NFL to provide Antonio Pierce with experience, having previously served as the Ohio State senior analyst and the OL coach for the Cowboys.”
The Raiders’ 8-9 final record suggests that their previous season may have been much worse. In the NFL, it happens sometimes that a club with a losing record advances to the postseason. Even though it wasn’t one of those occasions, Las Vegas didn’t win three games in the previous season. They were on the verge of making the playoffs.
Joe Philbin has a very extensive history of coaching. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant for the Tulane football team in 1984. In 2003, he started his NFL coaching career as an assistant offensive line coach for the Green Bay Packers. He was the Dolphins’ head coach from 2012 to 2015; he is presently a member of the Raiders.
The Raiders hit a home run if they intended to have a highly experienced player occupy this role. Philbin has been involved in the game for a considerable amount of time. He has coached a variety of positions and has a wide range of experience. For Las Vegas, it seems like this is a wise hire.
