Eli Gold says yes to a professional sports employment offer…

WBRC BIRMINGHAM, AL – After the University of Alabama decided to take a different approach with their radio broadcast, Eli Gold, the longstanding voice of the Crimson Tide, did not have to wait long to find another work.

In a phone conversation with Good Day Alabama Extra, Gold said that shortly after it was revealed that he would not be staying with UA or Learfield Sports, he received two job offers.

“I’m overjoyed and extremely fortunate that I received two job offers in the span of two or three minutes after yesterday’s press release was distributed,” Gold said. “In the college arena and one in the professional ranks. One of them was approved, and the other is still up for discussion.

Gold remarked that the position he took

He denied the University of Alabama’s prepared news statement announcing Gold’s retirement during his appearance on Extra.

“I’m retiring,” said the press release that was initially released. “I’m not,” I said. I’m not going to retire. Then they announced my resignation in one, or had a draft of one. I said, “I’m being shown the door; I’m not stepping down.” “I’m not quitting,” Gold said. “Since Eli is hanging up, I didn’t want it to affect prospective employers who had jobs but hadn’t given them. Eli, though, isn’t giving up. After the press release was out, I was fortunate enough to receive two calls and two offers in the space of two or three minutes.
