Brighton & Hove Albion became a top team because to the midfield combo of Alexis Mac Allister and Chelsea star Moises Caicedo. They were both instrumental in the Seagulls’ previous season’s run to the Europa League.
Both midfielders rose to fame in the league, and as their notoriety increased, teams began to express interest in them. Liverpool signed Mac Allister on whim, while Chelsea and Arsenal pursued Caicedo.
Following their recruitment of the 2022 World Cup winner, the Reds entered the competition with Chelsea for Ecuadorian midfielder Caicedo, who was already committed when the Reds approached him. The Blues had to pay £115 million to acquire the player.
Alexis Mac Allister on Moises Caicedo:
"Maybe he hurt me a little bit with what happened in the summer! No, it is completely fine. It is a personal decision.
He is an amazing player and a really good guy and I wish him well, but not on Sunday." pic.twitter.com/Vr8wLDDIpK

Caicedo chose to sign with Chelsea instead of accepting an opportunity to join Liverpool. Mac Allister, who will face his old teammate in the Carabao Cup final, says he didn’t try to step in when Caicedo made the decision to join Chelsea after both former Brighton players left (via Liverpool Echo).
“I would never stand in the midst of someone else’s personal choices; it is entirely OK that he made that choice. I wish him the best of luck every day of his life because he is a great guy and a wonderful player—but not on Sunday.
Caicedo had already made up his mind.
Caicedo and Mac Allister were Brighton’s two most valued midfield players. They forged a formidable midfield tandem that made the Seagulls one of the most competitive sides in the league. But Roberto De Zerbi’s team has struggled since their departure and has missed having them on the tram.
