INDIANAPOLIS: In an annual study by the National Football League Players Association, the Tennessee Titans rank 18th, or about league average, for player working conditions.

The NFLPA gathered feedback from 1,706 players who assigned grades to their teams in 11 different categories. The Titans’ grades are shown here:

“The Titans don’t excel in any of the areas within the survey,” according to the NFL Players Association, “as they sit right around the league average in every category.” After the 2022 season, the Titans were rated 18th as well.

According to the NFLPA, two problems with Tennessee stuck out and need to be fixed.

Team Travel’s grade was F. “Players are designated to sit in the back of the plane where many players don’t fit in the seats, while the staff sit in first class,” according to the article. Only seven NFL teams require players to share hotel rooms, including the Titans.

Second, Titans players took issue with Nissan Stadium’s 2023 season-long conversion from natural grass to artificial field turf.

“Consistent with how players responded across the NFL on the question of field surfaces (92% saying they prefer natural grass to synthetic), Titans players responded with disappointment that they moved from grass to artificial,” according to the poll.

Four areas were where the Titans scored the highest, with a B+: ownership, head coach, strength coaches, and weight room.

Between August 28, 2023, and November 14, 2023—prior to the Titans firing previous coach Mike Vrabel—players completed the anonymous survey. This story does not represent Brian Callahan or his employees in any way.

Families’ treatment was rated D+, placing it 17th in the league. On game days, the Titans offer daycare but not a family room.
