GM Ran Carthon Is Driven to Restore Titans and Establish Proper Ownership.
INDIA PARK – Recently, Ran Carthon was promoted to a more senior position with increased contractual authority.
As the Titans’ Executive Vice President and General Manager, Carthon is enthusiastic about his new head coach, Brian Callahan. Looking ahead, he has enough of cap space and a premium draft pick to help the football team he is responsible for rebuilding.
He’s motivated as well as flattered.
“An owner putting their trust in you is the biggest honor one could ask for,” Carthon stated during the NFL Combine. “My goal is to set Miss Amy straight. I am aware of Miss Amy’s feelings toward this organization and how important it is to the family. Yes, I do want to disprove her.
“I approach every day with the goal of always leaving this city and this state with something to be proud of. That is my top priority. I have roster control and other things contractually, but Cally and I will still collaborate on every choice. Even when we disagree, we’ll still manage to work things out.must find the greatest answer possible because it involves more than just him and me.
We will make the best choice possible for the organization. That is what matters.
Naturally, Carthon, Callahan, and the Titans have a ton of work ahead of them.
Following the Titans’ 6-11 season, controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk made the decision to fire coach Mike Vrabel.
Though there has been much conjecture that the decision was made for reasons other than the results alone, the results provided sufficient justification. After all, the squad hasn’t won a postseason game since the 2019 campaign, and teams from 2020 and 2021 eliminated themselves from the postseason, thus dashigning any higher hopes. The Titans finished the season with seven straight losses.
the 2022 season, losing a significant lead in the AFC South in the season’s last month to conclude 7-10. Over the previous two seasons, the team has suffered from a dearth of offense and injuries, losing 18 of its 24 games. After the squad lost seven games by a single score in 2023, some of the magic that Vrabel had utilized to win close games earlier in his tenure disappeared.
