Former world champion Launches an attacks Ricciardo in an…

Ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has severely insulted Daniel Ricciardo.

Thursday night (AEDT) marks the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season, and the Australian needs to perform well to increase his prospects of getting promoted into a Red Bull seat.

During the formal testing session last week, the seasoned driver displayed some encouraging signs, but it’s still unclear how much progress his Visa Cash App RB team has made.

Villeneuve has now unexpectedly appeared to dash Ricciardo’s dreams.

The 52-year-old, an 11-time grand prix winner, claims that the Perth native’s place on the grid is due to his widespread popularity as the sport’s most well-liked character.

The Canadian driver informed that Ricciardo is not the only driver who can equal his speed.

“Ricciardo is solely a product of contemporary social media and image,” he declared.

“His lengthy career cannot be measured by accomplishments. It’s simply not possible. They are incomparable.

It’s incredible. He has Netflix and all of that to thank. His demeanor and his smile in front of the camera in the paddock.

“A lot of drivers are just as fast as him, but they lack his reputation. You might as well choose the one with the picture, then.

The fact that McLaren fired Ricciardo doesn’t make Villeneuve’s viewpoint any more palatable to opponents. But the Australian is still the first driver to finish a full season ahead of Max Verstappen in a Red Bull.

Now, Ricciardo is fervently pursuing the opportunity to reclaim his former spot at Red Bull as Verstappen’s teammate for the 2025 campaign.
