Titans has finally re-signed K Nick Folk aft…sportscenter2.com

Welcome to Music City Miracles’ Tennessee Titans 2024 NFL Free Agency Primer! The legal tampering period starts next week on March 11th. With full roster control now under general manager Ran Carthon’s hands, the team will work with new head coach Brian Callahan to develop their vision for the Titans.

The Titans are expected to have 24 free agents (19 unrestricted), including a number of important starters and role players. We’ll examine each free agent in-depth, offering our analysis and a prediction to complement our analysis.

Reason why the Titans re-signed Folk

Prior to the 2023 season, Carthon and Mike Vrabel acquired Nick Folk in a trade with the New England Patriots, ending years of alternating between ineffective kickers. Folk made 29 of his 30 field goal tries, demonstrating that he was an excellent purchase. Folk hit five of six attempts from 50 yards or more, demonstrating his exceptional reliability from deep. Folk also had little trouble earning extra points—he converted 28 out of 30 attempts with success.

Conversations about nostalgia began when Folk was acquired. It turned out to be insignificant as Folk recorded his third-best percentage of his career. And to top it all off, Folk’s 96.7% success percentage set a single-season record for the Titans. It was an outstanding campaign.

Motives why  the Titans allow Folk

The Titans need to find a long-term kicker answer. Folk, who will soon turn 40, is hardly a long-term solution to Tennessee’s enduring kicking problems. In 2024, will the Titans be a Super Bowl contender? Is Folk willing to perform for someone who is not a contender?

The Titans should sign an undrafted kicker who could push Folk throughout training camp, even if they decide to re-sign him. Similar to how Brett Kern was replaced by Ryan Stonehouse. When evaluating Folk’s contract status, the Titans have to consider the future.
