Dan Bernstein, a radio presenter in Chicago, isn’t too like of what he’s heard so far from recently hired Chicago White Sox TV announcer John Schriffen, who is still getting used to his new position.

On Thursday’s episode, Bernstein, the presenter of 670 The Score’s midday Bernstein Holmes episode, gave Schriffen some advice: pace yourself; it’s a long season.

The 39-year-old Schriffen is taking over for the Detroit Tigers’ Jason Benetti in the NBC Sports Chicago booth. The second Black play-by-play broadcaster in MLB history, Schriffen has held positions with CBS Sports and ESPN.

A video clip of Schriffen calling an Eloy Jiménez home run was shown on Bernstein’s show. On social media, the video clip had gone viral.

It might be an understatement to say that Schriffen has a distinctive and passionate home run yell.

According to Barrett Sports Media, Bernstein stated, “It’s a long season, it’s a long major league career, just give yourself a little bit of runway, give yourself a place to go from here.” “There will be a lot of home runs; it’s just a spring training game.”

Bernstein issued a disclaimer before criticizing Schriffen.

To be completely honest, I adore Jason Benetti,” Bernstein remarked. To be really honest, I’m sick of the way things ended for him in Chicago.

Bernstein expressed his best wishes and desire for Schriffen’s success.

Bernstein remarked, “I am not rooting against him; I have nothing against him.” “I have some reservations about how intense that level of play will be during a Spring Training game. A Tuesday night in April can be thrilling and wonderful, but it’s not always a night in October and shouldn’t be handled as such. This is giving me memories to Chip Caray.

The good news is that, to be honest, I’m not sure how forced I will be to watch any White Sox baseball. I sent that message to my group after hearing the call, so I don’t want to make fun of him.

Sending a text with the “yikes face” emoji while thinking, “Oh boy, this year might be long and difficult.
