Report: Alabama AD Greg Byrne sue Kalen DeBoer for…
Greg Byrne, the athletic director of Alabama, had to start an interview on Wednesday with some news, first: there were rumors that he was interested in the Texas A&M position. Byrne dispelled that bit of conjecture in a hurry.
But there was still a lot to discuss. Byrne discussed a variety of subjects during his interview with 247Sports, such as the hiring of Kalen DeBoer, the state of Alabama’s NIL operation, and the future of the basketball arena.
I started by inquiring as to what was going through his mind when he found out that Saban was going to step down. Byrne gestured to one of the two vacant chairs in his office where we were seated at a table.
Byrne: The Tuesday before he retired, he was sitting in that chair, and I was filled with emotion as we spoke. First of all, we expected him to continue. Second, he should have been allowed to resign whenever he felt like it.
Third, there was a great deal of responsibility that went along with the fact that this was a pivotal time in the history of both University of Alabama football and college football. But I can tell you that my phone buzzed nonstop for a good while after he ultimately decided to move through with it on Wednesday. However, I believe it’s something similar to hearing about a hurricane’s eye.
