Tiger Woods, the 15-time Major winner, has officially withdrawn from The Players Championship after withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February citing the sickness. He missed the Friday night registration deadline.

The two-time Players Championship victor has not participated in the PGA Tour’s premier event since 2019, when he finished T30. It appears that Woods’ absence will continue in 2024 as he was not included in the field for TPC Sawgrass, for an unspecified reason.

As previously reported, a health issue led Woods to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational on Friday. After the withdrawal, everyone was wondering where he would appear next, and the Players Championship was the clear favorite.

The American will likely play in the Masters in April this year, which he was forced to miss last year owing to a recurrence of his plantar fasciitis injury. This is because he was not present at the $25 million tournament.

following undergoing surgery following the Masters, Woods returned to the game at the Hero World Challenge at the end of November, around seven months after the initial procedure. He placed 18th out of 20 competitors on level par, 20 strokes behind Scottie Scheffler, the winner of the tournament.

2023 was completed off by a respectable T5 finish in the two-day PNC Championship with son Charlie. Woods Sr. did not appear on the scene again until February, when he hosted the Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour.
