Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback, was guaranteed $11.25 million in compensation for 2024, in addition to a further $11.25 million in non-guaranteed pay. In 2024, he will not even come close to $22.5 million.
Perhaps he won’t even come close to making up for the $11.25 million guarantee that his PED punishment destroyed.
The data are finally available five days after Garoppolo accepted the conditions and the deal was signed and submitted to the NFL. According to NFL Media, Garoppolo will make $4.5 million in basic salary during his one-year contract with the Rams. The maximum value is increased to $12 million by incentives.
It’s not even worthy to boast about the highest number. If not, his agent would have ordered the many tweets announcing the transaction to state that it is worth “up to” $12 million.
With an annual salary of $27.5 million, Garoppolo was the highest-paid player in NFL history six years ago. He inked a $72.75 million, three-year contract with the Raiders last year. After he failed his physical, the contract was revised.
For Garoppolo, it still seems like a lot. And who else was after him? And who else was willing to provide almost $4.5 million?
Russell Wilson and Justin Fields were acquired by the Steelers for less money than the $4.5 million the Rams will pay Garoppolo, as MDS noted in the PFT writer text-message channel. Furthermore, quarterback Matthew Stafford’s cap number for this season is $49.5 million, which is more than 19% of the team’s maximum salary ceiling.
