49ers appoint Robert Saleh as their new head coach He will…

This offseason, head coach Robert Saleh and one free-agent defensive lineman may rejoin the New York Jets. Jets fans will have the opportunity to examine San Francisco 49ers lineman Javon Kinlaw after free agency officially opens on Wednesday, March 13.

Jets: NFL analyst explains Javon Kinlaw’s signing by citing his connections to Robert Saleh
In a recent piece, Fox Sports AFC East writer Henry McKenna mentioned a possible pairing between Kinlaw and Saleh, stating among other things:

This is a riskier proposition. However, McKenna said that perhaps head coach Robert Saleh should offer Kinlaw a one-year contract that would boost his value.

During Kinlaw’s rookie NFL season in 2020, Saleh was his coach. The defensive tackle had a stellar season as he was the Jets’ playmaker.

Along with four passes defended, 1.5 sacks, 33 tackles, and an interception recovered for a touchdown, he started 12 of the 14 games during the season. Despite recording a career-high 3.5 sacks in 2023, Kinlaw has not been able to duplicate his productivity, even when he raised his game count to all 17 in the 49ers’ slate.

How much it would cost the Jets to sign Kinlaw in terms of money
The Jets might spend money on Kinlaw. With San Francisco, he made $2.7 million in revenue last season, including a $2.2 million signing bonus.

The Jets have $20.7 million in cap space at their disposal. Kinlaw might be added to their depth chart behind Quinton Jefferson and Quinnen Williams with a lower-end one-year contract.

In terms of what New York needs, they could use assistance at wide receiver, offensive line, and backup quarterback. That does not exclude them from including an experienced presence at a fair cost to bolster their D-Line.
