Christian McCaffrey, a star player for the 49ers, plans to sell his opulent North Carolina chateau for $12.5 million

On 500 feet of lakefront, the property has a panic room and a two-story closet.

Christian McCaffrey, a running back for the San Francisco 49ers, is hopeful that his North Carolina estate’s numerous opulent facilities would draw in a buyer.

The opulent Mooresville, North Carolina estate, with a wine cellar, elevator, theater room, panic room, and lakefront access, is marketed for $12.5 million.

During his fourth season with the Carolina Panthers in 2020, the All-Pro signed a contract worth $7.5 million to secure the position.

However, McCaffrey has chosen to relist the approximately 12,000-square-foot house after being traded by the West to the Niners in 2022.

Victoria Speer of The Agency Charlotte has it listed. Four years ago, she sold the property to McCaffrey.

He loved the land, so for him, this has been a really tough decision, according to Speer. “He enjoyed watching movies in the theater room a lot. Because he enjoys fishing, he adores the lake.”

The property, which was constructed in 2019, has a 736-square-foot guesthouse in the loft style with a kitchen and walk-in closet, in addition to the main house. Grand Lac Chateau, the name of the six-bedroom main residence, was designed by JJ Barja of Elite Design Group.

Speer remarks, “You have the French, Old World look with all the modern amenities.”

According to Speer, the property is unique for the neighborhood since it sits on over nine acres, is “extremely private,” and has more than 500 feet of lake frontage.

Inside, the wrought-iron staircase and matching chandelier would “cost more than $1 million alone to recreate,” according to Speer, adding to the space’s unique feel.

The kitchen has a copper island, a La Cornue stove, and a range that, in her estimation, would cost $80,000 to replicate.

Another unusual feature in the main suite is a two-story closet.

All eight of the home’s fireplaces, including the double-sided one in the living room, provide warmth on chilly evenings.

The bar area has access to the outdoor space, which features a fire pit, grilling area, and saltwater pool with spa. Lake access is provided by a pier and a paved pathway.

A modern stone wine cellar, an elevator, a sauna, and a secret panic room located inside a former bank vault that is equipped with security cameras are among the other distinctive features.

McCaffrey turned the three-car garage under the guesthouse into a gym after he bought the house. Even his exercise equipment—”over a $100,000 worth,” according to Speer—can be purchased by the buyer.

It’s also important to note that McCaffrey’s jet ski, boat, golf cart, and side-by-side Wildcat ATV are all included in the asking price. The agent mentions that the boat is worth $300,000 on its own.

Given the guesthouse and three different garages that can accommodate seven automobiles, it’s also possible that the owner enjoys entertaining and hosting family members.

Both the Lake Norman region and Mooresville, North Carolina, a developing town of about 51,500 residents, are appealing.

According to Speer, “it’s hard to find a property with 8 or more acres in Mooresville.”

The eventual deal on this property has the potential to break records, even if the final sale price is still up in the air.

When I sold it to him, Speer claims, “I broke records for the most expensive home sold in the greater Charlotte metro area.” There are ads with higher prices, so if we sell before someone else, it might break an old record.

A different Mooresville lakefront property sold in December for $7.5 million, matching the record McCaffrey set when he purchased the property in 2020.
