On his eighteenth birthday, Tottenham announced the £8.5 million acquisition of highly regarded Swedish youth player Lucas Bergvall.
Bergvall had appeared certain to sign with Barcelona; however, Ange Postecoglou’s team hijacked the negotiations and persuaded him to sign with the Premier League.
The midfielder rejected the Spanish powerhouse and spent time at Tottenham on Wednesday. According to Sky Sports, he finished a medical at the team on Friday.
Despite having signed a contract that runs through 2029, he won’t actually join the team until the summer and will play the remainder of the season for Swedish team Djurgardens.
“It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League – the best league in the world,” Bergvall stated on the team’s official website.
Thus, I’m happy to be a part of this large group. With an excellent coach, it seems like the start of a new chapter.
“He provides many players with the opportunity to perform on a large scale.”
As a box-to-box player who enjoys having the ball at his feet, he characterized himself.
Like Bergvall, Dejan Kulusevski was a product of IF Brommapojkarna’s youth system and contributed to the transfer as well.
Several European teams were interested in Bergvall, including Man United, with whom he had trials when he was just 14 years old.
